The following duties and responsibilities are intended to give a broad indication of the variety of tasks the post holder may be asked to undertake:
- To promote a friendly, relaxing and professional environment whilst ensuring all customers receive exceptional levels of customer service in the dining room and bar.
- Serve food and beverages.
- Manage payments for the dining room and bar.
- Handle customer enquiries and feedback professionally.
- Ensure daily opening and closing procedures are undertaken.
- Communicate effectively with all other departments.
- Adhere to Food Safety standards.
- Complete daily/weekly paperwork.
- Comply with bar/hotel security, fire regulations and all health and safety regulations.
- Accept deliveries.
- Contribute to staff meetings.
- Assist with check-in/check-outs.
- Ensure the cleanliness and upkeep of the dining room, bar and public areas.
- Assist with cellar management.
- Maintain and enhance the Owl's reputation.

The Owl at Hawnby, near Helmsley, is located in the heart of the North York Moors National Park.
The Owl is integral to the village, serving as a hub for our local community, as well as being very popular with hikers, cyclists, countryside sports enthusiasts and tourists.
The £650,000 refurbishment of our 19th Century inn three years ago transformed the inn, which features a bar, lounge, restaurant, and nine double en-suite bedrooms.
