Live in general assistant needed in the heart of The Lake District!

Tasks involve all aspects of bar service including the tending and serving of real ales and keeping the cellar in a clean and orderly condition. Some hours a week may also be allocated to kitchen duties including cold food preparation (salads, sandwiches, sweets), assisting the chef with starters, sweets and veg prep waiting-on at breakfast, lunch and dinner, clearing of glasses and empty plates, washing up, cleaning certain areas, answering the telephone and some reception duties (such as taking accommodation bookings and dinner reservations).

There will also be housekeeping duties for a couple of mornings a week. The rate of pay is £13.45 per hour. Tips are pooled and shared by all staff on a pro rata basis according to the number of hours worked. The weekly rota is prepared to allocate 35-45 hours to each person. When extra covered is needed, the Manager asks for volunteers.  No one is expected to work over 45 hours per week without prior agreement. The aim wherever possible is to give everyone two full consecutive days off per week, usually the same days each week. Holidays are 28 days per year, . In view of the unsocial hours worked in the hospitality trade, holiday requests are treated with respect in order that the wishes of every member of staff may be accommodated. However holidays must be requested of the Manager, and permission granted at least three weeks in advance.

In return it is hoped that all staff will be flexible when extra duties are required to cover absences due to sickness or holidays. A staff discount of 35% on all drinks purchased at the bar is given. Wages are paid weekly, working a week ‘in hand’ at the start of employment is not required. Accommodation is available for this appointment, in a room in Elterwater. Country club membership is included with the job( swimming pool, gym, steam room and sauna) A deduction of £77.00 per person is made to live-in. This includes all meals, wi-fi access, electricity, council tax and use of the Britannia’s laundry facilities.   Strictly No Agents
