The Assistant Operations Manager supports the delivery of exceptional day-to-day operations across all departments, ensuring service standards, commercial performance, and team engagement remain consistently high. Working closely with the Operations Manager, this role acts as deputy and assumes full operational responsibility during periods of absence, days off, or annual leave.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the daily leadership of front of house, bar, restaurant, events, and guest experience operations
  • Lead pre-shift briefings, service planning, and operational communication
  • Drive departmental productivity, labour control, and revenue opportunities
  • Monitor service standards, guest feedback, and brand presentation
  • Coach, mentor, and develop supervisors and departmental leaders
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management
  • Ensure compliance with H&S, licensing, food safety, and fire procedures
  • Review daily trading performance, payroll, rotas, stock, and GP performance
  • Plan for events and daily operations coordinating with Head Chef/Ops Mgr/House Keeping team to ensure effective resource planning with good communication across the business and with external suppliers where appropriate. 
  • Act as Duty Manager / Operational Lead in the absence of the Operations Manager, taking full responsibility for the property’s operational delivery and security including overnight fire/responsible person on site. 

Ideal profile

  • Proven leadership experience in premium hospitality
  • Comfortable leading multi-department operations
  • Commercially aware with experience of labour, payroll, stock, and P&L drivers
  • Calm under pressure, highly visible, and hands-on
  • Ready to step into senior operational leadership when required
